Top 10 Sports Jerseys of 2010

1. LeBron James, Miami Heat - His "decision" to break Cleveland's heart for the bright lights and fast times of South Beach left a bad taste in the mouths of many sports fans. But there's no denying the hype that it created with Miami's Big 3 of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. James' No. 6 Miami jersey was the hottest thing around in 2010, and will continue to be one of the top-selling NBA jerseys - and in all of sports - for many years.

2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints - Brees was in the center of one of the greatest sports stories in a decade, putting the Saints on his back and leading them to their first Super Bowl title. The undersized quarterback has had to fight off doubters his entire college and pro career, and winning the Super Bowl might have changed the conversation to where Brees ranks among all-time great quarterbacks. His popularity has skyrocketed since the Super Bowl victory, and his jersey is the No. 3 top-selling NFL jersey.

 3. Donovan McNabb, Washington Redskins - After a decade in Philadelphia, McNabb was shipped south to division rival Washington in a stunning move that was questioned by pretty much every NFL expert. Skins fans are now in the same situation that Vikings fans faced last season, rooting for a guy they booed and jeered for the last 10 years. McNabb instantly upgrades the quarterback position in Washington, and makes the Skins legitimate playoff contenders.

4. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos - Maybe the best college football quarterback ever, Tebow seemingly has it all: the talent, the good looks, the humbleness, and the faith. The only thing he doesn't have is a starting job. Drafted No. 25 in the 2010 NFL Draft, Tebow is the Broncos backup signal-caller behind Kyle Orton but still is one of the most popular players in the league. Shortly after the draft in April, Tebow became the top-selling NFL jersey.

5. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder - Aside from LeBron and Kobe, no player in the NBA is as talented as Durant. At age 21, Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to win the scoring title, averaging 30.1 ppg last season. He only recently turned 22, and many around NBA circles predict that Durant will be the league MVP in 2010-11. He also has one of the coolest specialty jerseys around - pick up your own "Durantula" jersey here!

6. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers - Believe it or not, Bryant is entering his 15th NBA season, but at age 32 he is still one of the best players in the NBA. The five-time NBA champion led the Lakers to another title last season, and remains the most popular NBA player around the world. In fact, Bryant has had the top-selling NBA jersey for several years now. Look for Kobe to overcome injuries this season on his way to leading Los Angeles to a sixth NBA title and a "repeat threepeat."

7. Roy Halladay, Philadelphia Phillies - Halladay will almost surely be the 2010 National League Cy Young award winner, having just finished a season where he went 21-10 with a 2.44 ERA. "Doc" was the biggest offseason acquisition heading into the 2010 season, and he performed even better than anyone could have hoped. Halladay tossed the 20th perfect game in MLB history on May 29 and threw the second no-hitter in postseason history, mowing down Cincinnati, for the icing on the cake.

8. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins - The 23-year-old finished second in the NHL in scoring with 109 points last season (51 goals and 58 assists). After losing to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals, the Penguins star became the youngest captain in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup when Pittsburgh won it a year later. Look for Crosby to be the face of the league for the next decade.

9. Derek Jeter, New York Yankees - Mr. November was drafted with the 6th overall pick in the 1992 amateur draft, and all these years later he just wrapped up his 16th season as a Yankee, where he has notched 2926 career hits and won five World Series. All this, and Jeter is still just 36 years old. Jeter has the top-selling MLB jersey and is one of the most popular players to ever don the Yankee pinstripes. He'll likely end up back in the Bronx next season, where he'll be on track to record hit No. 3000.

10. Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals - The first overall selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Ovechkin has been a dominant force in the NHL for the last half of the decade. The left wing was named the league's MVP in 2009 and was named to the First All-Star Team for a fifth consecutive season. Ovechkin is one of the league's most popular players, and currently has the No. 2 top-selling NHL jersey.

Why Rely on the PPL for Your Fantasy Sport?

You may be wondering why you should rely on the Player Performance Level (PPL) score for all your fantasy sports and gambling needs. It's simple: the PPL is the only true and accurate performance metric that gives you the power to predict future performance. Averaging simply does not take into consideration all the factors of the PPL, and therefore does not reveal an athlete or team's true potential.
The PPL is formulated using a set of mathematical calculations as well as logical equations that consider factors such as the current performance and capability of an athlete or team. Additional factors that are also taken into consideration include:
  • The physical, mental and environmental effects on an athlete
  • The relationships between teammates and coaches
  • How teammates perform and how their PPL scores can affect a particular athlete during a game
  • Relations with the media
  • Personal life and its affect on performance
  • Current conditions (physical, etc.) only and not those of the past
What it does not consider are the following:
  1. Historical performance or what happened last season
  2. An athlete's record averages - all factors are only current
  3. An athletes' past year(s) records have very little, if any affect
The great thing about the PPL score is that it doesn't favor one position over another. AQB can have the same score as a Center. This is because the formulas take into consideration all the factors needed to truly provide an exact snapshot of an athlete or team's current performance potential. This means you receive reliable, certifiable and unbiased rating information that you can BET on.

Sports "Lawyed" - From the past to the future

Some time ago, the most important aspect of sporting struggle was winning; during the Ancient Greek Olympic Games, people would fight and people would die in pursuit of victory. A couple of hundred years ago, when unevenness reined supreme, taking part became the most important part of sport; losing was to be done gracefully and winning was to be generously. In our time, with the whole thing from fan club membership to players' salaries in the tens of millions, sport is a very different world from anything we have known before. In this new sporting world, it is neither the winning, nor the taking part that is most imperative; it's making a living that really counts.
Now we have entered the epoch of professional sports, people accurately play sports for a living. Although winning might very well boost their pay checks, nothing is more significant to these people than being able to carry on playing their sport day in and day out. After all, if they get injured and can't play, they're out of a job. For lots of professional sportspeople, for whom sport has made up the preponderance of their working lives, this can be shocking.
What's more, as talented as many sports people are, the simple truth behind professional sports is that it's not the skill of the players that keeps the money coming in; it's the advertising and merchandising opportunities that spectator sports offer which brings in the real money. Ticketing, branding, broadcasting and advertising are all major earners in the sporting world, just as they are in the business world. It's surprising then that many sportspeople don't realise how important it is to make sure all these elements are handled by a professional sports lawyer.
In exactly the same way you wouldn't put a lawyer on a football pitch and hope to win the World Cup, you shouldn't expect a footballer to handle the intricacies of sports law, contract rights and personal injury claims. Nowadays, with billions of pounds invested in sports, making money is the true name of the game and people will do anything to get one over on each other. The sorry truth for the players, therefore, is that it doesn't matter how passionate they are about their sport if they don't have the legal support required to handle the ever-more complicated world of professional sports.
Everybody from major superstar sports personalities to small club players can very effortlessly find themselves on the wrong side of a legal battle. Whether it's the rights to a multi-million pound promotion campaign, or seeking return for an unfair challenge that has left them unable to work, there is no longer anything simple about making a claim in a sporting context. These days, even the third referee isn't enough to ensure a fair call; with so many livelihoods at stake, professional sport has become the setting for some complicated and high profile legal cases.
Luckily, the legal world has kept up with the ever-changing sporting environment and sports law is now a whole area of expertise in its own right. For this reason, there really is no alternative than to seek out a qualified sports lawyer if you ever run into problems of a sporting nature. From injuries to commercial disputes, legal representation is a necessity if justice is to be served.

Recreational Sports - Sportsmanship

A recreational sport is an significant part of our spare time activities. It helps ease the stress of our work day. There are a wide series of activities that one can contribute in, softball, baseball, basket ball, tennis, football, swimming and even hockey. For the team sports, there are even leagues in which the teams can participate, thus raising the energy level necessary. This in turn increases the amount of advantageous exercise and stress relief.
The skill levels vary extensively and most of the players are in for the pleasure and exercise. Infrequently team sports can get aggressive and tempers can flare. The challenge is to keep the egos and aggression in check. Lately, there has been a portion of severe injuries in youth sports. This is a troubling trend. Youth sports should be about skill improvement, not winning at all costs. A minor lesson that is supposed to be instilled by participation in youth sports is sportsmanship. How to relate to your team mates and opposing players in a positive non threatening way, is the other.
I am predominantly depressed by the rise in head injuries and concussions, this type of trauma is a potentially life altering injury. Concussions can lead to stroke and other cognitive disorders that might not show up until later in the child's development. In the past few months several youth sports organizations have come out with guidelines to prevent head injuries. The American Hockey Association is an example. They have published a set of recommendations for the coaches of youth hockey to reduce the incidence of head trauma. The Canadian youth hockey organization came out with a study that showed that children who played in leagues that allowed body checking at the Pee Wee level were more than three times more likely to suffer head trauma injuries than those who played in non checking leagues.
Could there be a correlation between these injuries and violent behavior in later years. I have found no research on this, but it might have an effect. Then there are the absolute tragedies, the Boston University hockey player Travis Roy who is paralyzed from the neck down as result of a body check. More recently a high school player received a serious injury that also paralyzed him. To paraphrase the Peter, Paul and Mary song, "How many more times must the children be hurt".
Not only should the recommendations become mandatory, but every youth sports coach should be trained in how to prevent them in the first place. Ultimately it is up to the parents to push for the adoption of these measures. If the parents let it be known that they want to stop the senseless injuries at the local level. Almost every level of youth sports is governed by at least a local organization. The organizations should also enforce these coaching strategies at every level. The safety and enjoyment of the activity should be the primary goal of all youth sports.
As the time keeper for an adult recreation hockey league, I have observed both the positive and negative aspects of recreational sports. Our league emphasizes safety and sportsmanship, yet we have also had some sever injuries. Thankfully none have been head injuries. Our league is a no checking one.

Diego Forlan The Best Footballer - FIFA World Cup 2010

The astonishing Uruguayan attacker “Diego Forlan” was awarded by FIFA, the Golden Ball, as the World Cup's Best Footballer, he is the owner of an incident that prizes and rounds up in a certain measure the team's joint illustration.

He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on May 19th, 1979 and as player, his career started in Danubio F. C., then, Penarol F. C. both Uruguayans teams. Villareal CF from Spain 2004 till 2007 and Atletico Madrid also from Spain, since 2007 till 2010.
Diego Forlan titles:

Diego Forlan has become the Uruguayan idol forever for his excellence in the World Cup and for haven received the highest achievement, the Golden Ball. Generally these recommendations is for a player that dispute the final, but in this scenario, this was the first time that the reward was awarded to a footballer that do not dispute the final, a fact that made his invasion even more significant.
Diego Forlan played very well all the matches, with 5 goals. He showed his technique, commitment and his intelligence and shot to the Uruguayan's team service. He was an excellent centreforward, he moved twenty metres down to get in touch with the ball, prepared the game, planned advances and annoyed defenders with his moving about.
Only 4 players from South America received the Golden Ball: Diego Maradona from Argentina in 1986 and from Brazil, Romario 1994, and Ronaldo 1998. The fourth, South
America footballer was Diego Forlan - 2010.

I’m completely certain that Diego Forlan is the Best Soccer Player in the world as he proves by winning the golden ball.
